A bench for bottles, not a second loot game
The Blood of Dawnwalker Crafting
Rebel Wolves answered the crafting question in community copy: yes, and it is focused on consumables — tinctures and concoctions useful in and out of combat. That sentence is the whole design pitch. The Blood of Dawnwalker is not asking you to maintain a Witcher-style oil spreadsheet on top of a 30-day clock. It is asking you to pick herbs while you walk, turn them into bottles at a bench, and eat or drink them because day Coen has no passive regen.
This page sits under items because a tincture is inventory, not a fourth skill tree. Manuals still gate Swordmastery nodes. Recipes still live on a tab. Anca still knows more about herbs than the pause menu will admit.
What the bench is actually for
Consumables. Healing. Combat buffs. Exploration drinks. The public verb list is tinctures and concoctions, which is alchemist language on purpose: Witchcraft already taxes health with rune-carved hexes, so a bottle is how the sun kit stays in the fight. Night Coen half-regens and then needs blood; a tincture does not replace a vein, it bridges a rooftop. If a fan wiki promised weapon forging or armour upgrade trees as the headline, treat that as a placeholder until the pause menu shows those benches. Official voice has only committed to the bottle.
- Gather while travelling — forests and Tantari Woods are the herb argument, and travel is free.
- Craft at the station the UI actually labels. Do not invent a portable alchemy wheel.
- Stash spares in a shrine chest. A full night of hunger is a worse crafting fail than a missing rare petal.
- Do not spend an hourglass on a gathering quest unless the bottle is a build change. Walking past mint is free. A marked “collect eight” job may not be.
Recipes, manuals, and Anca
The recipes tab is where found formulae live. Manuals are the cousin system for martial and occult nodes: a book is a gate on the skill trees, not vendor junk. If you sell a manual to buy bread, you bought bread with a future Ultimate. Pearly and Precious already taught that a small creature can hold a large reward; a recipe scrap in a cellar is the same joke in inventory form.
Anca is the human version of that tab. Village healer, herb knowledge, Witchcraft tutor, a secret she will not open until trust is a quest. Her Latin lesson in the prologue costs time. Her later teaching is how a Swordsman stops treating bottles as clutter. She is not a crafting station with a voice. She is a person. If bloodthirst eats her, the bench will not replace the dialogue.
How crafting sits on the 30-day clock
Gathering while you walk does not tick the hourglass. Turning a marked collection into a completed quest might. Drinking a tincture in a fight does not. Levelling the Witchcraft node that makes the next bottle matter might. The time planner is for hourglasses, not for herb runs. The build planner is for the four day slots that will actually drink those bottles — Acrid Dust and Burning Blood still want charges, and charges still want you alive.
A Predator can live on animals and hostiles and still carry one healing tincture for the dawn after a bad roof. A Hybrid needs both bread and blood and should treat the shrine chest as a second belt. Nobody should plan a crafting spreadsheet that assumes the coronation will wait. Bottles exist so a mistake is a bruise. They do not exist so you can ignore food and armor.
If the pause menu later adds a weapon forge, this page will grow a section. Until it does, the official craft is a drink.
Frequently asked questions
Can I craft weapons and armor?
Not as the confirmed headline. Official answers point at consumable tinctures and concoctions. Manuals and loot still handle steel and cloth.
Does gathering spend the 30-day clock?
Roaming and picking herbs does not. A quest that packages gathering behind an hourglass does.
Is Anca required for crafting?
No, but she is the tutor who makes Witchcraft and herbs rhyme. Skipping her is a build choice, not a UI requirement.
