The game is rated Mature (PEGI 18 / ESRB M) for intense violence, blood and gore, strong sexual content, nudity, and strong language.

Codes

There are currently no redeem codes for The Blood of Dawnwalker. The game has not launched yet, and Rebel Wolves / Bandai Namco have not announced any promotional code campaigns.

Pre-Order Bonus vs. Redeem Codes

The Sangoran Wayfarer's Armor Set is tied to your pre-order on the platform where you purchased (Steam, PS Store, Xbox Store). It is not a third-party redeem code you enter on a website.

Be cautious of websites claiming to offer "Blood of Dawnwalker codes" or "Trello codes." These are not affiliated with the developers and are often scams designed to harvest personal data or install malware.

Post-Launch Code Updates

This section will be updated after the September 3, 2026 launch if official promotional codes, Twitch drops, or platform-specific rewards are announced. Check back here or follow official channels at dawnwalkergame.com.

Day & Night Cycle

The day/night cycle is the core identity of The Blood of Dawnwalker. Coen is a Dawnwalker — human by day, vampire by night — and each phase offers distinct gameplay loops, abilities, and quest solutions.

Daytime (Human Form)

  • Sword-based combat with directional blocking and parrying
  • Hex magic available (consumes health — no passive regeneration during day)
  • Full NPC interaction: merchants open, dialogue options available
  • Social infiltration and non-violent quest resolutions
  • Runic carvings on arms heal at night, enabling hex use again

Nighttime (Vampire Form)

  • Claw combat and Voracious Bite for health regeneration
  • Shadowstep teleportation and vertical wall-walking
  • Stealth required — detection by guards and civilians is dangerous
  • Blood Hunger mechanic: failure to feed may cause loss of control
  • Merchants closed, NPCs sleeping, special night-only events

Strategic Implications

Many quests can be approached differently depending on when you attempt them. Gathering resources during the day and executing stealth objectives at night is a common optimal pattern.

The world visually transforms at night — environments become more dangerous, and enemy patrol patterns change.

Combat System

Combat in The Blood of Dawnwalker uses a directional attack and defense system. You must read enemy attack directions and respond with matching blocks, parries, or directional strikes.

Directional Fighting

Enemies attack from one of four directions. Matching the direction with your block or parry opens the enemy to counterattacks. Successful blocks, parries, and attacks build Activation Charges displayed above Coen's health bar.

Activation Charges & Finishers

When Activation Charges are full, you can deploy powerful abilities: Hex spells during the day, or devastating execution moves that can decapitate enemies. Artery Attack serves as a high-damage finisher when charges are available.

Lock-On & Camera

Combat shifts to a lock-on perspective with Coen positioned left and the target centered. The skill dial (similar to The Witcher 3) lets you cycle through equipped active abilities mid-fight.

Abilities & Hex Magic

Coen has separate ability sets for human and vampire forms. Hex magic is daytime-only utility magic that trades health for battlefield control — not direct damage spells like fireballs.

Known Hex Abilities (Day)

Ability Type Effect
Acrid DustHex (Red)Stuns enemies
Burning BloodHex (Red)Damage over time; Coen risks self-damage timer
Artery AttackPhysical (Gold)High damage finisher / execution
Boiling BloodHex (Red)DoT with self-explosion risk if timer expires

Known Vampire Abilities (Night)

  • Shadowstep — short-range teleport to any visible point
  • Voracious Bite — bite enemies to stun and drain blood for healing
  • Wall-Walking — traverse vertical surfaces
  • Feral Mind — enhanced senses (shown in previews)

Hex Magic Rules

Hexes cost a portion of your health. The skill Frugal Witchcraft reduces health cost per cast and is highly recommended for magic-focused builds.

Some hexes require setup: Burning Blood may need Acrid Dust applied first. Runic arm carvings heal overnight, resetting hex availability.

Ability charges (red for hexes, gold for physical) act as a resource cost for deploying abilities in combat.

Skill Trees & Builds

Coen has three skill trees: Human, Vampire, and Shared. Skill points are earned on level-up. You can respec unlimited times through a medic NPC.

Skill Trees Overview

Tree Focus Key Investments
HumanSword mastery, Hex efficiencyFrugal Witchcraft, Artery Attack upgrades
VampireStealth, mobility, feedingShadowstep range, Blood Hunger control
SharedUniversal passivesHealth, stamina, activation charge generation

Recommended Build Archetypes

  • Sword Purist — Ignore vampire skills, max human tree for melee and hex utility
  • Night Predator — Focus vampire tree for stealth kills and Shadowstep traversal
  • Balanced Dawnwalker — Split points across all three trees for flexible quest solutions
  • Hex Specialist — Frugal Witchcraft + Burning Blood/Acrid Dust combo for control

Respec System

Visit a medic to reset all skill points at no limit. This encourages experimentation across day/night playstyles. Plan your build around whether you prefer violent or stealthy quest resolutions.

Characters

The story centers on Coen's quest to save his family in Vale Sangora, opposed by the Vrakhiri vampire lords led by Brencis. Allies and enemies shape branching narrative paths.

Protagonist — Coen

Born a peasant in Vale Sangora, Coen worked silver mines from childhood. Turned into a Dawnwalker (half-human, half-vampire), he can walk among humans by day while wielding vampiric powers at night. Portrayed by Will de Renzy-Martin.

Vrakhiri Vampire Lords

Enemies & Bestiary

Vale Sangora hosts human enemies, corrupted servants, and supernatural creatures. Enemy behavior changes between day and night cycles.

Trailers and the Community Bestiary have shown serpent-type creatures, additional undead variants, and horned mountain folk. Full bestiary will expand at launch.

World Map & Locations

The game takes place in Vale Sangora, a secluded valley in the Carpathian Mountains during AD 1347 — amid war, plague, and vampire uprising.

Major Locations

Location Description
SvartrauCapital city built on silver trade; Greifberg castle overlooks the valley
Howling KeepMysterious mansion in Tantari Woods; appears and vanishes at will
Shrike's CragOld quarry where peasant rebellion was massacred; haunted
LasleaVillage where elder Zdislav shares folklore and secrets
Carpathian GorgesNarrow summer passages; only entry to the isolated valley

Biomes

  • Lush forests and vast plains
  • Treacherous swamps and peat bogs
  • Steep mountaintops and medieval settlements
  • Forgotten ruins and ancient civilization remnants
  • Underground cellars, caves, and silver mines

The open world is hand-crafted with points of interest including shrines, bandit camps, monster nests, and treasure locations. Exploration does not advance the story timer.

Items, Equipment & Crafting

Equipment includes weapons, armor, and accessories. Crafting focuses on consumable tinctures and concoctions. Magic scrolls found in the world unlock new Hex abilities.

Equipment Categories

  • Weapons — swords for daytime combat
  • Armor — including Sangoran Wayfarer's set (pre-order bonus)
  • Accessories — stat and utility bonuses
  • Consumables — health restoration (critical during day when no passive regen)
  • Key Items — quest and lore objects

Crafting System

Developers confirmed crafting is focused on consumables: tinctures and concoctions useful in and out of combat. Gather materials during exploration to craft healing and buff items.

Magic scrolls discovered throughout Vale Sangora unlock new Hex abilities, which are then activated using skill points in the ability panel.

Time Progression

Story time is measured in 30 days and 30 nights. Coen must save his family before time runs out — but the game does not end when the timer expires.

How Time Advances

  • Completing quests advances time (each quest has a visible time cost)
  • Certain dialogue options show an hourglass icon indicating time cost
  • Exploration, combat, and free roaming do NOT advance time
  • The game continues after 30 days/nights, but Coen's family may suffer consequences

Strategic Time Management

You cannot help everyone — choose quests carefully. Side activities and exploration are safe when you need to prepare before advancing the main plot.

The time limit creates urgency similar to Persona or Dead Rising, but exploration remains pressure-free.

Choices & Endings

Every action and inaction shapes Vale Sangora. The Blood of Dawnwalker features branching quest paths, relationship consequences, and multiple endings.

Branching Quest Design

Quests have different solutions based on time of day, approach (stealth vs. combat), and prior choices. Political relationships and personal bonds react to your decisions.

Romance and alliances carry costs — saving one character may mean sacrificing another due to the time limit.

Replayability

Developers designed the game for multiple playthroughs. Different paths, alliances, and day/night approaches reveal unique content. The main Coen vs. Brencis conflict reaches a definitive conclusion in this first chapter, but saga breadcrumbs hint at future installments across different eras.
