How to beat the things that actually swing
The Blood of Dawnwalker Enemies
The Blood of Dawnwalker enemies start mundane — wolves, bears, corrupt guards, bandits outside Svartrau — and escalate into folklore. The Forgotten Guardian is the prologue exam. Blood Guards are Xanthe’s industrial product. Officers are not trash. Pixies are not cute. If a creature can give you time magic or a fortune, it is on this page because it can also ruin a segment.
The roadside loop
Bandit packs teach daytime combat: Dust, Blood, Artery. Animals teach bloodthirst without a funeral. Human patrols at night teach stealth because a public claw is politics. Do not spend hourglasses on random encounters; they are the free verb. If an encounter is named, it is probably a quest and probably costs.
Named threats
- Forgotten Guardian — cave boss, directional exam, loot after reading the mural. Prologue.
- Sanzhana / pixie — Pearly and Precious. A small job with a large offer. Daytime hex showcase.
- Blood Guards — Xanthe’s elites. Treat as officer logistics, not as wolves with extra HP.
- Vrakhiri officers — Ambrus, Bakir, Xanthe. Infamy meters. Story bosses hiding in administration.
- Brencis — the coronation. Allowed early, unwise early. Characters.
- Elder vampires in set-pieces — skippable if you take the roof. They may appear elsewhere because you omitted them, not because you won.
How to beat a Blood Guard is a Swordsman paragraph: charges, parries, Artery. How to beat an officer’s dungeon might be a Predator paragraph: blink, bite, leave a logistics hole, let Infamy open the real fight later. How to beat Brencis is a month, not a pattern.
Frequently asked questions
Are there elves?
The studio’s folklore pitch is specifically not elves-and-goblins. Expect regional myth, pixies with teeth, and vampires with passports.
Do enemies scale with the 30 days?
Not described as a Destiny-style power creep. Your build and Infamy change the ecology more than the calendar does.
