The Blood of Dawnwalker Swordsman Build
The Swordsman build is for players who came for directional fencing and stayed because Vale Sangora still lets them talk like a human. You spend skill time on Swordmastery, steal only the hexes that close a duel, and treat Vampirism as a travel pass. You still transform. You still feed. You just refuse to make claws the personality.
This is the easiest identity to play after the prologue Guardian, because that boss already taught the language. It is not the easiest identity to finish the month with if you ignore roofs; some loot simply sits on walls.
Loadout
- Day: Acrid Dust, Burning Blood or Life Lock, Artery Attack, Charge or Broadswing.
- Night: Shadowstep (one node is enough), Voracious Bite, a sword skill that still works, empty slot for shriek if packs bother you.
- Perks: stamina and parry windows over crit greed. You live on charges, not on lucky numbers.
Weapon: a long sword until you know you want great-sword tempo. See weapons. Armor: whatever lets you eat a mistake in a duel; the Wayfarer set is an early cosmetic-functional boost, not a build. Armor for the rest.
How this build spends the month
Hourglasses go to people and to martial manuals. Nights are for shrine-to-shrine wolf-less travel, animal feeding, and the occasional roof you cannot talk through. You will be worse at skipping the cathedral set-piece. You will be better at the Blood Guard who wants a fair-looking fight in a courtyard. Read daytime combat weekly. Read night combat when a door is rude.
Infamy still exists. A swordsman can wreck Ambrus’s logistics in daylight with witnesses. That is a character problem as much as a DPS problem. Do not confuse a clean duel with a clean conscience; the blood tax is still the law.
Frequently asked questions
Can a Swordsman ignore Vampirism entirely?
You can starve the tree. You cannot skip the transformation. Take Shadowstep anyway; it is how to find the map the designers hid above jump height.
What hex is mandatory?
None. Dust plus Artery is already a fight. Burning Blood is the first hex that makes the charge loop feel like a spellcaster without abandoning steel.
