Allies are a calendar purchase
The Blood of Dawnwalker Companions
Coen is not a silent custom hero, and he is not supposed to siege Greifberg as a solo action figure unless that is the ending you want. The Blood of Dawnwalker lets you recruit help, alienate it, or never meet it. Romances are confirmed. They are not a pause-menu toggle with a heart icon you can grind. They are mornings, trust, and a person who can still die if bloodthirst writes the scene.
Names below are the ones launch coverage and trophy lists actually use. In-game spelling is canonical if a subtitle disagrees — reviews have written Anca and Anka, Crake and Craig. This page follows the trophy-side spellings and flags the variants.
Anca — healer, tutor, possible romance
Anca is Laslea’s healer and a Witchcraft tutor. Her Latin lesson in the prologue already costs an hourglass. Later teaching is how a Swordsman stops treating bottles as clutter. IGN’s review is blunt about the tone: she splits time between Latin, magic, and shameless flirting. That is a relationship, not a crafting station with a voice. Trust is a quest chain. If you skip her because the family clock is loud, you skipped a person who changes how Coen reads the valley. If hunger takes her, the bench will not replace the dialogue.
Lacra — the vampire who is not your familiar
Lacra is the warrior ally whose personal mission keeps outranking the rebellion. Roundups put her next to war-crime jokes and a spine that will not wait for your moral lecture. Her chain is the Patricide door: stand with her against Brencis. She is not a pet. She is not a romance checkbox you tick in a camp. Spend time or do not. Either choice is an ending input.
Crake, Manumit, Marat
Trophy lists call the rebel path Crake and the faction Manumit. Some reviews say Craig. GameRant-class roundups also name Marat as a rebellion lead. Do not merge them in your head until the journal does. The Knyazmaker ending is “side with Crake, finish his chain, stand with him against Brencis.” A rebellion is a month of hourglasses. It is not a notice-board stamp. If you want Folk Hero, do not bring them to the gate.
Romance without a wheel
- Multiple romances are confirmed. Anca is the one reviews keep quoting. Others hide behind trust, not behind a “flirt” bumper.
- Vampire form can sour a conversation. Day Coen is how most people agree to keep talking. See day and night.
- Feeding on a romance option is how a questline ends with a corpse. That is a feature. It is a terrible surprise.
- There is no camp-sex slideshow advertised. If you came from Witcher 3 expecting a collection, you will be hunting mornings instead of cards.
A companion is a bid on the same thirty days as the family. Recruiting everyone is a second-file hobby, not a first-month plan.
Frequently asked questions
Is there a full companion roster?
Not a BioWare wheel. Named allies with chains: Anca, Lacra, Crake/Manumit, plus valley people who can still matter if they live. The characters page is the court. This page is the help.
Can I romance Lacra?
Do not plan a spreadsheet. Coverage treats her as an allied vampire with a personal mission. In-game trust is the only honest answer.
Do companions fight in every duel?
They are not a constant co-op pawn. They change the story, the endgame, and some jobs. Coen still has to fence.
