How to beat a fight while the sun is up

The Blood of Dawnwalker Daytime Combat

Daytime combat is the half of The Blood of Dawnwalker that looks like a historical action RPG until Coen slashes his palm. You pick a direction, you steal a charge, you spend the charge on a hex or an execution. If you treat it like a hack-and-slash, the charge bank stays empty and the fight stays long. If you treat it like a rhythm game, Burning Blood cooks the target while you already look at the next guard.

IGN’s Pearly and Precious clip is a full daytime quest: talk, corpses, a sanzhana, Mercurial Fervour-style speed, Ravenous Flock, and sword duels. It is embedded here because it is the public proof that hexes are not cutscenes.

The charge loop

Four directions on attack and defense. Hit the unguarded line. Parry the line they chose. Each success feeds activation charges. Omniattack/omniblock will pick a direction for you except on unblockables. Use assist while learning. Turn it down when you want the Swordsman identity to mean something.

Daytime fencing is a conversation about tempo. Assist exists so the conversation can start.

Shown opener: Acrid Dust (stun or blind, gold/physical family in some breakdowns, “Dirty Trick” in others). Then Burning Blood (hex DoT, health tax, runes). Then Artery Attack / Artery Strike (gold execution, possible decapitation). That is how to complete a roadside bandit fight without eating three food stacks.

Hex rules the night will steal

Hexes cost a little health and a charge. They require carved runes. Vampire healing closes the carvings, which is why witchcraft is a day school and why a Witchcraft node is a wasted hourglass if you only play roofs. Compel Soul and other investigative hexes belong on the same clock as conversation. Do not start a séance at dusk.

Ravenous Flock (spectral birds, cone, stun) is the daytime crowd tool shown in Pearly and Precious. Life Lock (block-and-reflect) is the anti-bully perk for duelists. Mercurial Fervour is the sprint hex for overland days when you refuse to wait for wolf form. Slot them on the day bar in the build planner.

Food is a combat stat

No passive regen in the sun. A perfect parry does not heal you. Inventory food and the shrine stash are the day equivalent of bloodthirst management. If a boss is long, the limiter is sandwiches, not only skill. Read items before you vendor everything that looks like bread.

Frequently asked questions

How to beat groups during the day?

Dust or Flock the add, duel the elite, spend Artery on whoever is isolated. Do not hex the whole crowd if you cannot afford the health tax.

Why did my hex fail at night?

The runes healed. Wait for sun or fight with night tools.
